Bora Bora is a small South Pacific island northwest of Tahiti in French Polynesia. Surrounded by sand-fringed islets and a turquoise lagoon protected by a coral reef, it’s known for its scuba diving. Repose on the deck of your overwater bungalow, cool off in the luminous lagoon surrounding Bora Bora or bike around the island at a leisurely pace.
PLACES TO VISIT
1.MATIRA BEACH
With its crystal clear water and sand soft and downy, Matira Beach is one of the only public access beaches in Bora Bora making it extremely popular with visitors. Matira Beach is the ideal holiday destination with the resorts, shops and eateries.
2.MOUNT OTEMANU
Mt Otemanu is Bora Bora’s biggest attraction.This ancient volcano can be seen from many places around Bora Bora.
3.CORAL GARDENS
Across from Sofitel Marara is a small islet with a gorgeous coral reef. All you need to bring with you to spy the cache of colorful fish is some snorkeling googles.
4.BORA BORA LAGOONARIUM
The Lagoonarium is a natural aquarium on a small island, where you can snorkel under supervision. Beneath the lagoon's surface, you'll spy sharks, turtles, rays and many different kinds of ocean fish.
5.WWII GUNS FAANUI
There are seven giant cannons on Bora Bora, perched on the hills above the four points of the island. U.S. servicemen stationed on the island during WWII installed them. The best way to see them is on an exciting but very bumpy 4WD tour.
6.PAROISSE SAINT PIERRE-CELESTIN
With it’s amazing stained glass window above the altar the impressive work represents the seven sacraments and if you look closely you can get a glimpse of Mt. Pahia in a small pane.
7.MUSEE DE MARINE BORA BORA
The small, private Musée de la Marine has a collection of 40 models of ancient and modern canoes, tuna fishing boats and models of legendary ships.

The best way to get around Bora Bora is by bike, especially when you consider that the entire island only takes four hours to traverse. Rental cars, the local bus and taxis are other options.
The best times to visit Bora Bora are November and April. These short shoulder seasons offer fine weather with temperatures in the mid-70s to mid-80s. High season runs from May to October when rain showers are isolated and the number of tourists swells.
