MEXICO CITY
Mexico's capital is one of the liveliest and largest cities in the world. Two magnificent snow-covered volcanoes, Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl, tower above the city it at heights of more than 5,000 meters. It is also home to one of the planet’s great urban travel destinations - a city with unmatched cultural attractions and a world-renowned gastronomy scene. There are also hip boutique hotels and up-and-coming neighborhoods—along with some classic can’t-miss attractions.
PLACES TO VISIT
1.PALACIO DE BELLAS ARTES
This centre is considered as the cultural center of Mexico City. The exterior of the palace showcases art nouveau and art deco-style architecture, while the inside features marble floors and vaulted glass windows. Several cultural events including music, dance, theatre, opera and literary performances is hosted here. Work by die famous Mexican muralist Rufino Tamoya is also on display in the palace. On the top floor you will find the National Museum of Architecture.
2.TEMPLO MAYOR
Templo Mayor served as the religious center for the Aztec people before the Spanish colonization. The temple was destroyed in the 14th century and it wasn't until 1978 that the temple dedicated to the Aztec gods Huitzilopochtli and Tlaloc was unearthed in the heart of Mexico City. The area remains an active archeological site and the adjoining museum houses more than 7,000 artifacts.
3.TEOTIHUACAN
This World Heritage site contains some of the largest pre-Columbian pyramids in all of Mexico. Popular constructions, including the Palace of the Plumed Butterfly, which showcases various columns of winged creatures, and the Pyramid of the Sun, which sits at the heart of the small city. The nearby museum, Museo de la Sitio, also holds many artifacts from the period.
4.BOSQUE DE CHAPULTEPEC
The park was once the temporary home of the Aztec Empire. Today this park is the largest and most popular gathering place for families seeking respite from a busy city. The park is home to cultural interests, such as the presidential residence, the former presidential palaze, a zoo and several museums. There arenumerous military monuments, effigies of the Aztec kings, a amusement park and restaurants.
5.PALACIO NACIONAL
The palace holds the federal executive branch of the Mexican government. The massive building contains several gardens, murals and fountains. Murals of Mexican history, from pre- Columbian days to the current age by Diego Rivera are painted across the palace walls.
6.MONUMENTO A LA REVOLUCION
This monument was originally meant to be a legislative camber, but was interrupted by the Revolution. It was planned to be demolished but instead was modified and in 1938 unveiled, containing the tombs of the revolutionary and post-revolutionary heroes Pancho Villa, Francisco Madero, Venustiano Carranza, Plutarco Elías Calles and Lázaro Cárdenas.
7.PARQUE ALAMEDA CENTRAL
Originally laid out in 1592 this beautiful park today has many splendid fountains and sculptures.
8.LAKE XOCHIMILCO
Today it is most famous for its canals that, in ancient times, connected the villages around the lake. Enjoy a ride on the 110 mile canal system in a trajineras. It is a good place to wonder around to view some of the historic buildings.
9.COYOACAN
One of the most exciting ways to discover Mexico City is this colorful area with its music, theater and dancing. Look out for the Coyotes Fountain. Arts thrive in this quaint area, without leaving behind the folklore and artisanal crafts of Mexican culture.

The best way to get around Mexico City is the metro, buses, bicycles and taxis. Driving yourself is a terrible idea – either to and from the airport or around town.
The best time to visit Mexio is between December and April when there is virtually no rain. The coolest months are between December and February, while the wet season begins in the south in May and lasts until October.
