Goa is a natural paradise bounded on the one side by the foothills of the Sahyadri range and on the other by the Arabian Sea. Every corner of this tropical paradise displays a fine blend of traditional and modern aspects of life.

PLACES TO SEE IN GOA

1.FORT AGUADA

Built as the chief defense of Portuguese in the 17th century, the fort is ringed by thick battlements and a deep dry moat. Some of the buildings are still in good shape and some have been converted into a jail – Goa’s largest jail.

2.DELTIN ROYALE CASINO (BOAT)

The casino offers 24 hours of nonstop fun. Live entertainment is on the restaurant floor during peak hours. The casino is closed on national public holidays.

3.BASILICA OF BOM JESUS

The Basilica of Bom Jesus is a World Heritage site and are an important legacy of it being an erstwhile Portuguese colony. The mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier is preserved here and hence revered by many.

4.ARPORA NIGHT MARKET

The flea markets are also an integral part of tourist experiences in this beach city. The market is held every Saturday night from 6pm until late night. Food stalls offering an inexhaustible range of delectable food and a center stage which hosts live concerts.

5.REIS MAGOS FORT

The oldest fort in Goa and has been recently restored to its former glory. It was initially used as the viceroy’s residence and later converted to a fortress. The fort is surrounded by sturdy and distinctive reddish laterite walls and studded with typically Portuguese watchtowers or turrets at strategic points.

6.NAVAL AVIATION MUSEUM

The only Naval Aviation Museum in India and the whole of Asia. The outdoor and indoor sections displays a range from 7 different types of aircrafts, rockets, bombs, armaments, protective gears, parachutes, pilot’s outfits and more can been seen.

7.BONDLA WILDLIFE SANCTUARY

The Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary is covered with moist deciduous forest and evergreen vegetation patches and proudly houses a Mini Zoo, Rose Garden, Deer Safari Park, Botanical Gardens, Nature Education Centre and Eco-Tourism Cottages within its premises.

8.ARVALEM / PANDAVA CAVES

These caves are ancient rock cut that give you a chance to steep into the mythological tales. The architecture is simple with plain walls with no painting on them. The rock structure has been cut into laterite stone. The famous Rudreshwar Temple and a waterfall is also in the vicinity.

The best way getting around in Goa is by bus, car, bike or Richshaws. You can hire them on a full day basis or you go around from one place to another in different onces.

The best time to visit Goa is from mid-November to mid-February. These are the best months to visit since the weather is pleasantly cool and comfortable and perfect to relax on the beaches. The popular Sunburn festival is held in December.
