Stellenbosch is more than just a country town. The university town is home to South Africa’s most famous wine routes and boasts a rich cultural heritage. Stellenbosch has much to offer, from hiking trails, township tours, food adventures, museums, art galleries and many more.

1.OOM SAKKIE SE WINKEL

The shop stocks everything from handcrafted straw yard brooms to clothing, fruit and veg and arts and crafts as in old tradition of the rural trading posts.

2.DROSTDY THEATRE

Situated in the heart of Stellenbosch were guests can enjoy high quality, predominantly Afrikaans performances that range from dance shows and dramas to musicals and light hearted jazz evenings and comedy nights.

3.STELLENBOSCH WINE ROUTE

The Wine Route is divided in five sub-routes, Greater Simonsberg, Stellenbosch Berg, Helderberg, Stellenbosch Valley and Bottelary Hills. Wine-tasting and cellar tours are offered on a daily basis. Most of the have restaurants, picnic facilities, art galleries, gift shops, amphitheatres, carriage rides and wildlife adventures.

4.THE GIRAFFE HOUSE WILDLIFE AWARENESS CENTRE

The Centre provides easy access to some of our wildlife and bird species. Daily animal encounters / shows are held were guests can meet and hold some of the interesting creatures. Visitors are welcome to bring a picnic basket.

5.RUPERT MUSEUM

The Museum has a collection of over 350 loved art works by well known South African artists such as Maggie Laubser, Irma Stern, Alexis Preller, Walter Battiss, Elza Dziomba, Jean Welz, JH Pierneef, Lippy Lipshitz, Moses Kolter, Anton van Wouw and Coert Steynberg.

6.LE BONHEUR CROCODILE FARM

Over 1000 crocodiles are housed on this farm. A guided tour leads you across dams via ramp ways. The visitor centre offers catch and release fishing during normal business hours. The gift shop offers high quality toys, branded clothing and an extensive range of Nile crocodile leather articles.

7.STELLENBOSCH VILLAGE MUSEUM

The Village Museum currently comprises of four houses of historical interest and their gardens. 8.VAN RYN’S BRANDY DISTILLERY

The distillery was built in 1905 and today it is well-known as a producer of exceptional brandies. Tastings are on offer, as well as the notable brandy, coffee and chocolate pairings.

The best time to visit Stellenbosch is in the summer, when the blossoms are out in full force, the summer breeze is blowing through the town, and the students have finished for the year. Between November and April (Summer) temperatures peak at around 30oC, and ideal day to spend on the beach!
