Located on the River Dommel, Eindhoven is the largest town in southern Netherlands and fifth largest city in the Netherlands. Is it not only a university town, the city also offers a diverse collection of tourist attractions such as art museums, historic churches and beautiful park. Eindhoven is vibrant and one of the most exciting cities in Netherland.

TOP PLACES TO VISIT

1.THE VAN ABBEMUSEUM

Founded in 1936 the museum is one of the most prestigious galleries of modern art in the Netherlands. The international collection with more than 2 700 works of art, include works by Lissitzky, Picasso, Dumas, Dijkstra and Mondriaan. Other highlights are collections of sculptures, art installations, video works, and posters from USA, Germany and Eastern Europe.

2.THE PHILIPS MUSUEM

Housed near the old factory where Philips made his first incandescent lamp in 1890, the museum shows how the enterprise has grown to one of the world’s largest electronics companies. Mission Eureka is one of the museum’s popular features, a fun interactive game involving digital quizzes and puzzles.

3.THE DAF MUSEUM

Home to one of Europe’s largest truck manufacturers, DAF - founded in 1928 by the brothers Hub and Wim Van Doorne. They started in a small blacksmith shop making simple engineering products, gradually progressing from trailers to cars and trucks. You can visit the a replica of the original workshops, offices and samples of vehicles throughout the decades.

4.EVOLUON, EINDHOVEN

Designed to resemble a UFO that has landed in the middle of Eindhoven, the Evoluon was built in 1966. The museum was previously a science museum but was renovated in the late 1980’s and is now available for conferences, meetings and meetings. Later in the 1990’s the Philips Hall auditorium as added.

5. THE PSV EINDHOVEN MUSEUM

Hosting one of the most successful football franchises in Europe, celebrated their 100th anniversary in 2014. 6.ST. CATHERINE’S CHURCH

The church was originally built in the 13th century, but was many times severely damaged. The current structure was built in Neo-Gothic style in 1867. 7.THE EINDHOVEN MUSEUM

The open-air museum focus on life during the Iron and Middle Ages in North Brabant. Before the 1900’s agriculture was the main livelihood, but after the 1900’s textile, electrical and metalworking industries blossomed. On display is the daily live of the people who live in the settlements, their rich history, customs and skills by costumed staff as well as authentic recreations of period buildings and structures.

8.VAN GOGH VILLAGE: NUENEN

The picturesque village of Nuenen become famous for it’s inclusion in the art of Vincent Van Gogh lived here from 1883 until 1885. Formally a pastor’s house, it was completely restored to it’s original style. The Vincenter is dedicated to Van Gogh’s art, the time he spend there and the great walks following his footsteps. More than 20 different locations are leading you around the village relating to the artist from the Outdoor Museum.
