Do you like beer? Even if you don’t, do you like to be merry with friends and family? Maybe you enjoy meeting new people. The world’s largest Volkfest (“Folk festival”) Oktoberfest is the place to be this month. Annually held in Munic, Bavaria, Germany. The festival lasts between 16 & 18 days from mid or late September to the first Sunday of October. Six million people from around the world attend this event every year. So, if it’s company you seek, then book your ticket and head over to Oktoberfest!

What you need to know:

  • The locals call it Wiesn
  • There’s no need to buy tickets, but you should get there early
  • You must have cash, including coins (for tip)
  • On that note, you really should tip
  • Oktoberfest is way more than just beer tents
  • Not all tents are the same
  • You should know some basic lingo
  • You will sit with strangers
  • Security is tight, so be on your best behavior
  • Packing light is a necessity
