Winter Wonderlands

Date: 2019-11-01

2019 is not over yet, and while you’re still pondering about where you want to take yourself or your family in the next two months. Here are some possible ideas that may help you choose the ideal travel destination.

If you consider yourself a bit of a mountaineer read more about Adirondack Mountain region in New York. Or maybe you are an avid slope warrior and feel the need to tear up a mountain in Alberta, Canada. Here are four destinations that are incredible to visit this time of year.

Adirondack Mountain Region, New York.

America has some great mountain ranges, all ranging in varying degrees of beauty and difficulty. The special thing about Adirondack is that it is one of America’s first vacation destinations. Attracting tourists from all over to experience the wonderfully clear lakes, pure air, and the various high peaked mountains available to climb. For those seeking adventure in the classic style there are several Hotels that have been around for almost 100 years. One of them being the Hotel Saranac, which re-opened in 2017 after being renovated in such a way that adds a touch of Urban grandeur to the cozy town of Saranac Lake.

Alberta, Canada

The rugged powdery trails of Jasper and Banff’s is more then enough reason to visit Alberta this winter. Though, there is more to be seen. If you’re flying to Calgary, take a quick detour before hitting the slopes to see the year old Snøhetta and DIALOG designed Calgary Central Library. 460 white hexagonal panels over the building, which has become some what of an architectural icon. Culture hounds should find Edmonton’s new Royal Alberta Museum, a $375-million, 419,000 square ft. institution which features many exhibits on indigenous cultures, a gallery dedicated to insects and more. Kananaskis Nordic Spa lies away from the cities and is the first of its kind in the province. A year ago, releasing a collection of hydrotherapy pools – as well as salt exfoliation cabins and eucalyptus steam rooms – right in the foothills of the Canadian Rockies. AS well, if you find yourself in Banff National Park, keep an eye out for bison. Due to overhunting, the magnificent animals have not been seen in the area for over a century, but in June 2018, a herd of 31 was released on Banff’s eastern slopes.

Armenia

Last year spring the Armenians voted in a new, more liberal government. Which resulted in a country that is even more inviting to travelers. The Alexander, part of Marriott’s Luxury Collection, opened in Yerevan last year, giving the capital its first world-class hotel. With a number of new restaurants in the city, including Sherep. Each breathing new life into Armenia’s ancient cuisine. Famous for its beautiful countryside landscape, Armenia has many wonderful trails. One of which is The Transcaucasian Trail, seeing travelers pass the spa town of Dilijan, the bucolic Dilijan National Park, and a pair of 10th century Christian monasteries.

Nepal

Nepal has some of the most remote, untouched regions on the planet. In the Nepalese Himalayas the sky-high country is defined as much by it’s rock formations and colorful stupas as well as its unfathomable stretches of jagged mountains.
